You can now permanently remove "backing up the computer" from every to-do list. Once the Carbonite software is up and running, it works quietly in the background, continually adding new and changed files to the cloud. And when you’re using your computer, the backup takes a back seat so you're not slowed down.

Bank-level security
Your files are protected with the same level of security used in online banking. They are protected with a 128-bit Blowfish encryption before they leave your computer and a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) when transmitted to our data center.
Stay connected
Available to all Carbonite customers, Sync & Share gives you the ability to do just that, sync and share. The downloadable app works across your smartphone, tablet, laptop and desktop. When you make an update to any document, just save your file as you normally would and it’s instantly synced everywhere else – no need for special folders. Like your grocery list: start it on your desktop at work, add to it during the train ride home, then share the latest list with your spouse.
Files at your fingertips
Your documents from the last 30 days will appear in a list when you open the Sync & Share app – that’s anything you opened, edited and saved – immediately at-hand, whenever you need them. If you need something older than that, you can access it from your backed up files with the “Access Backup” button. And, you can easily collaborate with friends and family members, by sharing your documents directly from the app.
It’s a fact: computers crash, laptops get stolen and files get accidentally deleted. But with Carbonite as your backup plan – and with the "Restore" button at your disposal – there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.
From one file
Lost or (whoops!) accidentally deleted a file? No problem. Your files remain on our servers for 30 days. During this time, you can recover the lost file right from your PC through your account dashboard.
To everything
If your computer crashes, is stolen, or just dies, you can log into your account from your new computer, click "Restore" and follow the step-by-step recovery process that will have your files back to you in no time.
Or even just a piece
With the versioning feature (available to Windows users), you can make changes to your files worry-free. Carbonite can save up to three months’ worth of previous versions of your files, so that you’re able to roll back if need be.
